Hi Larry! I'm glad you liked the movie. I saw it like a year ago, and I liked it. I agree with your likes and not likes. The acting and story were solid; the premise for getting inducted was stretching it. However, if someone seriously threatened my family, I would sell my life if I could save them. He HAD a date and he knew what he was gonna do with it

You didn’t do your time in Cali so you don’t know how it works out here. We don’t have “camps” it’s either county jail which most are pretty ruthless or prison which are a lot worse but either way they are all race segregated and things get wild.
amckoy205 6 päivää sitten
As a CO I completely agree with everything said. He would have went to a softer prison for sure.
titanary68 6 päivää sitten
No offense to you or him but if you aren’t a CO in Cali, and he didn’t do his time in Cali you all have no idea what you are talking about. Our county jails out here are segregated so imagine the prisons. Not to mention we don’t have “soft” prisons out here. Yeah the movie was well, a movie so they took some liberties but the reality of it is out here in Cali you can go in for 12+ months and never come out just because of the politics

uNii7y 6 päivää sitten
I did some time myself just county time but it was enough, and I hate seeing movies like this or tv shows that show the dirty of the dirty, now some of these movies have parts that are accurate but for the most part, it’s false. Most the people want to just do their time peacefully and not bother with anyone. I was in the worst block with the worst of the worst, murderers, violent offenders, and honestly it was the most peaceful block at the jail. Guys stuck to theirselves for the most part. Yes it was segregated but everyone was cool with one another. So I love your videos just for the fact you point out the real. Movies and tv shows give a bad name to all felons or inmates, we are people too, so I hate Hollywood for that shit. Normal people that don’t know what that’s like, look down on everyone that’s been through the system. So thank you for your videos brother.

What I learnt from prison: 1. Your cell mate is your brother 2. Be smart, not hard. ESPECIALLY if you're not hard. Fake people have a hard time. 3. If you have something good enjoy it for yourself or share it with others. 4. Trust your gut. 5. Show respect to EVERYONE, you never know who these people are. (this one i I had to learn the hard way and it almost turned out very bad. And I'm a very respectful person to everyone in general)

Hans Grubber

Hi Larry, I just came across your channel and am a fan. Just a correction on your depiction of the movie “Shot Caller” in California where this movie takes place, if you are convicted of a DUI Manslaughter case you do not qualify for camps or an low supervision facilities. A DUI Manslaughter conviction in California is considered a violent felony so he would have been housed in a medium to high level facility and not a white caller prison as you have wrongfully stated. California state prison standards are definitely different than the federal level.

Do you have a review on the movie Felon?
Josue Bustamante
Josue Bustamante 8 päivää sitten
The issue I have with this review is that my favorite part of the whole film is over looked in the critique. What I love about this movie and what makes it unique from other similar movies is that its about a gang member who's not a gang member. Every step of the way, he is doing only what he has to to survive, but does not buy in to any of the bullshit. As he rises thru the ranks and gains the respect of every one, even those who initially had none for him, he never for one second forgets that he is not them, nor does he want to be anything like them, in fact, he hates them for what they make him do and will hurt them any way he can... once he is able to, which is when his, and more importantly, his family's safety is secured. You said by the time he gets transferred, he's a big time white supremacist, but his heart and mind weren't in the gang at all, he just had to appear and carry out orders as if he was balls deep, but it was only for survival. So, when he gets released, and you say he was snitching, that's just him doing what he feels is right and would have done in his previous life to hurt the people who forced him to do all these things that aren't who he truly is. So, he never was a gangster, he just played the roll damn good because he had to, which resulted in him rising to the top tier of the gang. Now, once he's secured his safety, his family's safety is threatened, so he has to take out the shot caller, and replace him to keep his family safe as well as fuck over the gang who threatened his family in the first place.

I thought the movie was very unrealistic. They act like there were no loses taken on their side as far as with the riots and everything and from what i've been told its not like that at all in prison.
Dcain2 9 päivää sitten
Without the big fallacy (first time, non violent convict in a hard core yard) is the basis of the movie. It was also interesting that he (and the Whites) took absolutely no loses .. 🤔.. all groups loose at times. Other than that, great movie.

“Camps” aren’t always low security inmates. Even low/medium security camps have violent cons...murderers, lifers, gangs, heavies, segs, etc. who bounce around between low/medium/max based on their behavior.
TapRackBang 8 päivää sitten
@Tilc Rekcil I’m assuming based on his experience that it differs from state to state because we have a similar program, and theres a big mix of offenders, anything from vehicular manslaughter to murder. In most cases the lifers are the quietest and most respectful as they’re just trying to do their time. The younger cats usually are the ones stirring the pot.
Tilc Rekcil
Tilc Rekcil 8 päivää sitten
The minimum security camp I was released from housed people that are never going home. They earned their way there and work outside the fence on work crews with two COs that are unarmed. TBH, if I could do it all over I would've chosen medium security as they have the classes that are more in depth probably because people's sentences are longer.

All white boys on the GP side are woods and we run with skinheads and AB but skinheads and AB recruit selectively so most white Ppl aren’t actually aryan or a skinhead, they just stick with the other whites.

I know you haven’t been to California prison cause the shit you said wouldn’t have happened woulda for sure happened. There's a number of factors that go into your security level in the state systems (and to you I wouldn't be a federal crime). I had 53 months in Connecticut, and I started off in level 4 (it goes up to 5 in Connecticut). Part of it was disciplinary stuff, but my level went down to 3 once I had done a third of my time, then once I did a third of the remaining two-thirds, it went down to 2. Anyway, I was in Cheshire CI, surrounded on all sides by lifers. Non violent property crimes. 53 months.

You say 11 years isnt long but think of this, depending on how you treat your body making it to 70 is maybe as far as most people get. If you smoke even less. So 11 years is basically a 6th or 7th of your only entire life. That is too long for anybody especially with how prisons are run these days. "Corrections" yeah right.

In California every inmate goes to a reception center where you get processed and get your points. So in reception a level 1 inmate will be on the yard or share a cell in reception anywhere from 30/90 days. In California also the gangs are in level 1 and even fire camps. They are everywhere . To go to a camp all you have to not have on your record is a sex crime or escape. Atleast as of 2003 maybe it's changed
